“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”
— Heb. 13:2
As more and more international students come to study in Europe, we are challenged biblically to offer hospitality and to reach out to them with the gospel. IFES’ work among international students is a strategic way to impact the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. We long to see student-led witnessing communities reaching out to the far side of the world - in the room next door to them. And we long to see believers return to their home countries secure in their faith in Jesus and able to lead others to him.
Where else could you find people of 12 nationalities who work in 15 different countries reaching out to International students!
The ISM - Network met in Marburg from 13-16 November 2017 to share, pray and learn from one another. One of the main aims of the network is fellowship and community: It is a great opportunity to hear about all that is happening across Europe among international students and to pray for one another in the work God is doing. Every member in attendance gets a chance to share news from their ministry and receive prayer.
But the network also creates space for training and equipping in ministry among international students. As well as time together studying the Bible, this year included training on how to connect an ISM ministry with the wider national work of IFES movements as well as understanding different types of European students: whether post-christian, post-modern or post-communist!
The Network have also been working on an ISM-Handbook to help others involved in this kind of ministry. It will include everything you need from starting ISM, to vision and strategy and packed full of practical help! Coming soon!
A great chance to meet, be equipped and encouraged. Are you involved in ISM? Why not join us next year? Or connect with us at Global Impact 2018….
